The Panton Store is boutique homewares and lifestyle store established in Melbourne in 2009 by potter and retailer, Shelley Panton. In 2023 the store relocated to picturesque South Gippsland.
Shelley has a passion for making and sourcing interesting, well made, practical wares for the home. The store range includes: pottery, books, wood-ware, wood-care, brushes, throws, socks, furniture, kitchenware, and gifts.
Where did it all begin?
After loosing her job in the 2008 GFC Shelley was looking for a home and studio to rent when she stumbled across 88 Park Road, a quaint century-old former butcher’s shop and dwelling in the beautiful back streets of Middle Park.
With a background in food, visual merchandising, and events, Shelley saw her first store as an opportunity to use her skills to build a creative stable base during what was an unstable time. Starting from humble beginnings, Shelley put her head down and ran the store by day, threw pots at night, and stayed focused on her vision of creating a business with longevity that would be loved and enjoyed by the community for many years to come.
Business history and timeline:
The pottery studio and store first opened in Middle Park in 2009.
In 2013 the Middle Park studio and store was relocated to Prahran.
In 2019 the pottery studio was relocated to South Gippsland.
In 2023 Shelley's partner, Arron, joined the business and the retail store was relocated to Toora, South Gippsland.
The Panton Store is proud to remain a well-loved business in the boutique retail community, and the store ships Australia wide for those who can't make it to the bricks and mortar store.
