Establishing The Panton Store in 2009, Shelley Panton is a Melbourne based Potter and Retailer.
From 2009-2019 Shelley worked onsite in a studio at the back of the store to produce a range of hand thrown studio pottery. Due to a mild carpal tunnel injury she had an extended break from throwing pots. In mid 2020 the pottery studio was relocated to South Gippsland when Shelley continues to hand throw a collection of functional stoneware pieces for The Panton Store. The first batch is due to be released in Autumn.
Stocking a curated collection of pottery, plants, books, and utilitarian home goods Shelley uses her business platform to proactively support and assist other makers and business owners in getting their product to market. Shelley remains passionate about building a community around her business.
Where did it all begin?
During the Autumn of 2009 Shelley was looking for a house and studio to rent when she stumbled across 88 Park Road, a quaint century-old former butcher’s shop and dwelling in the beautiful back streets of Middle Park.
With a background in food, interiors and events, plus a passion for pottery, wood, textiles, photography, and anything handmade, Shelley saw 88 Park Road as an opportunity to build a foundation for her pottery and create a hub for other things she loves working with.
In August 2013 the Middle Park store was relocated to 440 Malvern Road, Prahran, and 11 years on The Panton Store continues to offer a diverse range of maker products and considered goods for the home.
