Establishing The Panton Store in 2009, Shelley Panton uses her business platform to proactively support and assist other makers and business owners in getting their product to market. Shelley remains passionate about building a community around her business.
Where did it all begin?
After loosing her job in the 2008/09 GFC Shelley was looking for a home and studio to rent when she stumbled across 88 Park Road, a quaint century-old former butcher’s shop and dwelling in the beautiful back streets of Middle Park.
With a background in art, visual merchandising and events, plus a passion for pottery, wood, and handmade wares, Shelley saw her first store as an opportunity to build a pottery studio and store. Starting from very humble beginnings, she put her head down, ran the store by day, threw pots at night, and stuck to her vision of creating a store that would be loved and enjoyed by the community for many years to come.
In August 2013 the Middle Park store was relocated to our current store site at 440 Malvern Road, Prahran. And in 2019 the pottery studio was relocated from the back of our store to Shelley's home in South Gippsland, where she continues to work alongside her partners wood workshop.
Twelve years on The Panton Store is still privately owned and operated by Shelley and her team who love to offer good old fashioned customer service and a diverse range considered gifts and goods for the home.
