Craft Workshops at The Potter's Lodge

The Potter's Lodge, an idyllic and picturesque property nestled in the rolling hills near Foster, South Gippsland, by store owner Shelley Panton and her partner, Arron.  Shelley produces her functional pottery in their shed alongside Arron's wood workshop, where he makes a range of utilitarian items for The Panton Store. The pair have their craft studio's set up side by side, and in their spare time they are either working in the garden or slowly restoring their retro Cape Cod home.

You can find Arron's woodwork here, and Shelley's pottery is available from our bricks and mortar store in Prahran.

Our craft workshops available to the general public are currently not being offered due to the disruption of Covid19. However, we are happy to discuss a private booking for 4-8 people if you would like a day out in nature with us on our property to learn the art of hand-building with clay, basket weaving, or weaving on a loom.

Please note, we do not teach pottery on the wheel as it is quite a technical craft that requires more learning than you can do in one day. Bookings are subject to current government public health directions, and workshops will only go ahead should lockdowns not effect guests attendance.

Our hosted days at our property include craft materials, and full catering prepared by us. We both have hospitality background, so we love to cook and feed people.

Craft days start at $265pp, and we are happy to provide a quote upon request.

If would like to enquire about booking a private workshop for 4-8 people for your team or private group of friends please email Shelley Panton: the following information:

What is the occasion for your private booking?
Do you have a date in mind?
How many people are you booking for?
Do you or anyone in your group have any dietary requirements?
Are all guests over the age of 18?

We will come back to you once we have this information from you.

Please also read below our booking T's & C's.

Booking Terms & Conditions:

All attendees to our property must be paid, ticketed guests.

Should our event be cancelled due to a Government instructed COVID lockdown, the hosts will offer a full refund.

The host does not offer a refund for change of mind, or if you find you can't attend after you have already paid for your date.

Your booking can be transferred to another person if you know of someone who can fill your spot.  We ask that you contact the hosts prior to the event should you be wishing to transfer your spot to another person.

Please note: we do not take responsibility for pottery student's work cracking in the firing stage, which is most often caused by how the maker assembled the piece. We will show you how to avoid this during the class so your piece can be enjoyed for many years, but in the unfortunate event that your piece does not come out fully assembled in the firing piece The Potter's Lodge will not be liable.

We ask workshop attendees collect their pottery pieces within 3 months of when they are ready at a mutually agreeable time. We can post finished pieces upon request. We charge postage at Australia Post rates.  Any uncollected pieces will be donated to our local charity shop.

If it's raining (as it often does in South Gippsland) our event will still go ahead.  Please allow extra driving time to drive safely.

Persons attending our property for a workshop must be over 18 years of age.

Any dietary requirements must be advised to your hosts prior to the day of your arrival.  While we will do our best to accomodate your dietary requests, we cannot guarantee there will be no traces of nuts, dairy, gluten etc.

The Potter's Lodge disclaims to the extent permitted by law all liability whatsoever for any loss, injury, or damage sustained by any customer or third party, whether to person or property, arising out of any workshop, farm stay, or related activity presented by The Potter's Lodge.

The Potter's Lodge in its responsibility to you, and the environment in which we conduct our product, is covered by Public Liability Insurance, in the hope that it is not needed. We manage this responsibility with the utmost care. It is always strongly suggested that our clients have their own personal insurance. Our Public Liability cover is closely scrutinised, and in the event of a claim, all dealings will be managed by our policy holder.
