Saturday Casual Sales Assistant

We have a rare opening for a weekend casual to join our existing team.

Our well-established boutique business has a rare opening for a Saturday Retail Sales Assistant to join our existing team. 

We are looking for a passionate, bright, well presented and experienced person who would like a long-term regular Saturday shift on our team.

The ideal candidate for this role would be available to work most Saturdays. The hours are roughly 10am-4pm each Saturday, with a later finish of 5.30pm on busier days.  The odd Saturday off from time to time can be arranged in advance, but the main requirement for this role is that the person we appoint is able to work most Saturday’s. It would also be ideal if the candidate is able to take on additional days in the six weeks leading up to Christmas and be available to help out on other days from time to time when another team member is away or unwell.

To be successful for this role you would need to have an impeccable eye for detail, and your administration skills would be as sharp as your sales and customer service ability to assist our team in the smooth running of our business.

Skills and requirements for this role include, but are not limited to:
Sales and Customer Service
You can think outside the square to help our customers find the perfect gift.
Can work and think quickly on their feet during peak trading times
Knows how to read a person and is able to look after all types of people from all walks of life
Has a great visual eye and is able to tweak an area of the store when needed
Excellent phone and administration skills
Being grounded and organised to help the smooth running of the day to day
Is happy to roll up their sleeves and do whatever is required of the day to get the job done
Are comfortable going up and down a ladder and lifting boxes of stock
Help maintain a clean, tidy and beautifully presented store
Has an understanding or inventory and restocking
You can gift wrap beautifully and quickly
Has a passion and knowledge for indoor plants, craft, and lifestyle homewares

    Full-Time Retail Sales Assistant - this role has now been filled.

    Working with an existing tight knit team this role is a for an experienced Full-Time Retail Sales Assistant, with the view that the role could grow into a 2IC position within 12 months time.

    VALUES, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum five years experience in a similar role
    • Affable and personable to all clientele, in accordance with the brand’s position and core values
    • Confidence in handling transactions and varying pricing structures
    • Phone skills and the ability to communicate well comes naturally to you
    • You can work to a brief and are a team player who is self motivated to have a go at new things
    • You can think laterally and logically in how you approach things
    • You are equally strong in your customer service and sales ability alongside having a sharp eye for detail
    • You have a passion for homewares, design, indoor plants, and a good knowledge of craft materials
    • You have experience working with VEND and Shopify or a similar platform
    • You have excellent computer and administration skills
    • You have good knowledge of excel and photoshop 
    • In your previous role/s you have processed both online sales, and in-store sales
    • You understand the process of packing online orders and fragile goods
    • You have experience booking couriers for online orders
    • You have inventory management and stock control experience
    • You are a natural at visual merchandising and maintaining the presentation of the store
    • You can think on your feet in a busy retail environment and thrive when under pressure
    • You are well presented and take pride in your personal grooming
    • You'd enjoy working on your feet, and are comfortable going up and down a ladder when handling stock and merchandising the store

    We are looking for a person who is fully available for this role who has no other outside employment commitments or aspirations that would affect their availability to fulfil the position requirements.

    The hours are 9am-5.30pm, five days per week, which includes a weekend day.

    You'd be working within a tight knit team in a family owned and operated business. Our team has a low staff turn over, so we are looking for a candidate who sees themselves in this role long term. Another perk of working for our business is a generous staff discount.
