FULL-TIME ROLE:

If you love an energetic environment and have a passion for homewares, pottery, plants, books, cooking, and good living, you may like to know our boutique business will have an opening for a Full-time Retail Assistant to join our team in late-Winter/early-Spring. This role would suit a retail all-rounder who has a minimum of five years retail experience.

We are a family owned and operated business who manages all elements of running a retail business in-house. This role would very much suit a retail all-rounder who has a varied skill set and who loves variety within a structured role. 

To be successful for this role you would need to have good knowledge of our style of product offering, and your administration skills and eye for detail would be as sharp as your sales, communication, and customer service ability to assist our store manager and team in the smooth running of our business. 

We have a tight knit team consisting of the store owner, our store manager, one full-timer, and a small team of casuals. Store owner, Shelley Panton, works alongside the team between two locations: our Prahran based store and her South Gippsland pottery studio.

We pride ourselves on having kept our business stable and trading strong throughout the past two years of the pandemic, so we are looking for a candidate who is looking for a stable base and who sees themselves in this role long term. 

EXPERIENCE:

-Minimum five years' experience in a similar role
-Strong customer service and sales ability within a retail environment
-Phone skills and the ability to communicate well with people of all ages
-Excellent computer and administration skills including accuracy when handling stock and sales
-Visual merchandising, window dressing and store presentation to a high standard comes naturally to you
-You have inventory management and stock control experience
-You have worked on VEND and Shopify or a similar retail platform
-In your previous role/s you have processed both online sales, and in-store sales
-You have handles Click & Collect sales and understand the process of packing online orders and fragile goods
-You have experience booking couriers for online orders
-You have good knowledge of excel and photoshop

    SKILLS:

    -Confidence in handling transactions and varying pricing structures
    -Great communication skills come easy to you, and you are fluid in being able to communicate well in a face paced environment
    -Ability to achieve positive outcomes for our sales, customers experience and our team culture
    -You can keep a stockroom tidy, organised and in good order to achieve workplace OH+S standards
    -You can work to a brief and are a team player who is self-motivated to keep our store running smoothly
    -You are highly organised and can think on your feet in a busy retail environment and thrive when under pressure
    -You can demonstrate that you are a lateral and logical thinker in how you approach things
    -You'd enjoy working on your feet, and are comfortable going up and down a ladder when handling stock and merchandising the store
    -The ability to take great photos of our store for social media would be a bonus

      ATTRIBUTES:

      -You would have a sharp eye for detail
      -Are well presented and take pride in your personal grooming
      -You are affable and personable to all clientele, suppliers, and couriers in accordance with the brand’s position and core values
      -You have a passion for homewares, design, indoor plants, and a good knowledge of craft materials
      -A full-time 2IC role within an independent business excites you, and you are looking for a long-term role
      -Must love dogs, as we are a dog friendly store

        The position is five days per week, which includes a Saturday each week (and the six Sunday's prior to Christmas). 

        We are looking for a person who is fully available for this role who has no other outside employment commitments or aspirations that would affect their availability to fulfil the full-time position requirements.

          We are flexible on the starting date for the right candidate, however ideally this person would be able to start this position by August 2022.

          Salary is negotiable, based on experience. 

           

          CASUAL ROLES:

          We are always keen to hear from casual applicants who would love an opportunity to join us as a Weekend Casual/Christmas Casual later in the year.

          We start hiring our Christmas Casuals around August/September. Prior retail experience is a plus, and we are also happy to train juniors who have lots of passion, an eye for detail, and a can do attitude right looking for their first retail role.
